About Me

Who am I and why should you care?

My name is Maurice Ufituwe, I am a UX designer with 17 years of freelance experience helping small businesses in Internet Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Mobile app marketing.

I have helped local businesses gain online visibility by optimizing the local search results on Google, Bing and Yahoo. My philosophy has always been to give the best return on investment to clients. I’m looking to continue this work and help car makers create a more user-centric experience for drivers and passengers with infotainment systems in cars.

Growing Up

I always looked to the future growing up and wandered to destinations that no one had visited before. It was very futuristic. I used to imagine the world in the year 2000 and 2030 and what it would look like. Being a science-fiction guy since childhood, I always believed that technology would transform the economic problems that we see around the world. It did to a certain extent.

Automotive Design

Passionate about automotive design since I was 13…

I’ve always been passionate about automotive design and design in general since the age of 13. Growing up, I wanted to become an astronaut, a car designer, an architect, a computer scientist or a businessman.

Patrick Le Quément

Patrick Le Quément was the chief designer of the Ford Germany Design Center in 1983. He is the man behind the futuristic design of the Ford Sierra which was praised in automotive publications in the 80s.

My science and technology teacher in the first year of high school was a friend of his. He put me in touch with him after I showed him some sketches of car models I made during a break from class.

I exchanged a few letters with him, and I received an invitation to an open day of the Ford Design Zentrum in Cologne to visit their location. I was in a boarding school and I couldn’t attend and meet the man himself. You can learn more about Patrick Le Quément and his incredible career here.

In the 80s, the Ford Sierra, the 1986 Audi 80, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evo II, the BMW 7 and 5 Series, the BMW Z1 sports car, the Ferrari Testarossa and the Dodge Viper RT/10 were fascinating car models and masterpieces of engineering that I marveled at for their exceptional designs.

I could spend hours studying the lines, dissecting every inch of their bodywork and trying to create designs that were similar or better. I could lock myself away for hours sketching one design after another.

UX Design

My Transition To UX Design

My transition from Digital Marketing to UX design was a natural evolution in understanding what separates great apps from the average. In this quest, I am looking for the best path to leverage my customer-centric experience and execute a successful strategy to generate an optimal ROI for customers.

I have always been fascinated by Mobile applications that naturally command respect and enjoyed such authority in the app stores. These are the applications that have been downloaded a million times, while their peers struggle to get noticed. Any client who trusts you with their project wants a good return on their investment. These clients are best served when we focus on the differentiator that separates the good applications from the average app.

I believe we can develop infotainment systems in cars that will create both a pleasant and joyful atmosphere and an unforgettable user experience.

What opportunities are you looking for?

I’m currently available for both freelance and contract work in the Cologne area or remotely. I’m open to networking and collaboration as well. I’m not afraid relocating in a new region or country if the opportunity presents itself.

The Future

What does the future hold for UX/UI Design in the automotive industry? Will it take over the entire design process and radically transform interior and exterior design? This is a question that deserves to be analyzed if we want to stay ahead in the automotive industry. I am looking forward to seeing what cars and the automotive industry will look like in 10 or 20 years.
